Interpretive Dolphin Trip

2-3 hour boat trip with Trained Local Guide and boat captain

  • Venture into the wild dolphins’ home territory, only 15 minutes from Manzanillo by boat, in the near shore waters of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge

  • Learn about the three species of dolphins in the area, including the little-studied tucuxi (Sotalia fluviatilis) dolphin, the bottlenose and the Atlantic spotted dolphins, how to identify each

  • Learn about the biology and social lives of these incredibly intelligent animals

  • Look for dolphins and try to observe them unobtrusively, with the guide’s interpretation, in one or more of their natural behaviors- perhaps feeding, resting, traveling, interacting with each other socially, mating, playing or engaged in aerial activity. (Since these dolphins are wild, we never know what to expect, but are rarely disappointed)

  • Look for some of the individually recognizable dolphins of the area, from the 60 dolphins in the Photo-ID Catalog.

Call or come into the TDF office for a trip with one of our trained and certified local Dolphin Guides.

Jungle Tour

  • 4 hour walking tour into the primary and secondary rainforest of the Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge with a local, trained and certified Naturalist Guide, who will introduce you to more species than you can ever imagine!

  • Have opportunities to see toucans, three kinds of monkeys, sloths, spectacular butterflies and insects, red-capped manakins, poison-dart frogs, skinks, and many other species of birds, animals and reptiles with the expert eyes of your guide
